Resource Centre opened
The Acting High Commissioner of Canada, Mr. Dexter Bishop opened the Resource Centre at Families In Action
on Thursday 17 October.
The brief function hosted by Families In Action, was attended by Managing Director
of Families In Action, Ivis Gibson, Developmental Consultant of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, Elizabeth
Brown, Public Affairs Officer of the Canadian High Commission, Leslie-Ann Boiselle, and Families In Action
Staff and well-wishers.
The Resource Centre was made possible through funding in part by the Canadian High Commission. Through this
contribution, Families In Action was able to purchase educational books and video tapes on a wide variety
of topics including parenting, counselling, substance abuse, personal development, spirituality and adolescents.
The contribution also allowed Families In Action to acquire audio-visual equipment, computer and other technical
aids to enhance its programmes.
The Resource Centre is used by staff, students and others affiliated with Families In Action as a reference
for programme planning and research, as well as a tool for self-development to deal with personal challenges.
The Resource Centre is also proving to be valuable for staff to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date. |
